MAKING THE NETHERLANDS AND THE REST OF THE WORLD WATER AWARE
With the Dutch Wavemaker program, ZSL builds a community of young water ambassadors with a range of partners. These water ambassadors - the Dutch and international wavemakers - are specially trained water sport talents and students who study water-related topics at Dutch institutes for higher education. These students come from all parts of the world, including the Netherlands. They represent a rich variety of experience and expertise, ranging from engineers from TU Delft to water researchers at the WUR and the water managers of TU Twente.
They are especially capable of reaching a new generation and making them enthusiastic for topics and questions in the area of water, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Surrounding their activities, new networks emerge. Businesses, governments and sports related organizations work together to elevate and share water awareness and knowledge on water management and environment.
These are some of the words that Henk Ovink, special envoy for international water affairs for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, wrote in his open letter about our Dutch Wavemaker project. You can read his whole letter over here.
